By whatever force of nature may compell you, it's with a somewhat confounded expression that you now find yourself beneath the rain. No, dumbass, not unprotected. You may be stupid enough to leave for a stroll in midst a storm, but you at least pack a heavy coat and umbrella to boot. The hollow protest of an empty stomach reminds you of your task at hand. That's right, you need nourishment. Nothing a little coffee shop shouldn't handle, you presume. The soles of your shoes slap against concrete, with each step a puddle is disturbed from its innocent formation. You pity the asshat who left for work unprepared, it'd be a hell of a walk home. A soft mewl breaks your otherwise mundane line of thought. Surely there wouldn't be any animal dumb enough to be venturing in this downpour. Searching the sidewalks curiously, you finally take notice of a stumpy looking cat - probably no older than four months - hiding beneath a window sill which was offering a lamentable protection against the cold. Considering the little beast's expression, he wasn't exactly having the time of his short-lived life. Out of whatever sympathy you might have for that tubby looking kitten, you scoop the furball up, thankful to realize that he apparently lacked claws rowing his front paws. You regretfully notice that is not the case for his hind paws. Almost dropping the temperamental bristle-fest of a pet, you chastise him quietly. He glares to you in challenge, but seems to understand that if he doesn't behave he'll be back by that miserable window sill. He settles down. You carry him to the nearest coffee store. It was pretty uneventful.
